New Hampshire lawn care
New Hampshire lawn care: find your grass, plan mowing and seasonal repairs, and check watering, soil and local growing conditions before treating a patch.
Start a New Hampshire repair with the seed label and the site
New Hampshire Extension selects mixtures by light, moisture and intended inputs and favors a suitable fall establishment window. Save the species and cultivar label, measure the actual repair and plan water and traffic protection before starting. A state boundary does not set one reliable seeding deadline.

Check the site and current fertilizer rules
Keep current fertilizer restrictions with the plan: no application to nonactively growing turf or frozen ground, during or before predicted heavy rain, or within 25 feet of water or storm drains. Use approved turf products and read the full law for nutrient limits and definitions. New Hampshire: RSA 431, including application restrictions effective January 2025.
A sunny, drought-prone, lower-maintenance site can also justify a fine-fescue-heavy mixture. Shade tolerance alone is not enough to choose seed; compare light, drainage and traffic. UNH Extension: Repairing a lawn, April 2, 2021.
