West Virginia lawn care
West Virginia lawn care: find your grass, plan mowing and seasonal repairs, and check watering, soil and local growing conditions before treating a patch.
Choose a West Virginia plan after comparing the patch with surviving turf
WVU’s older shade guidance distinguishes cool, dry shade from wet or heat-stressed sites. Keep those conditions separate when using the existing grass plans below. A state directory lists care guides; it does not recommend every grass for every location.
- Light in the growing season
Record direct sunlight when trees have leaves and compare the bare area with surviving turf. A “shade” bag cannot create more light.
Measure light before another seed purchase- Water after rain
Note where moisture remains and whether the location receives runoff. Do not mix that observation with a seed-germination result.
Trace the persistent wet area- Repair that lasts
Save the full mixture label and photographs of first cover and later cover from the same boundary.
